THE FLOWING WATERS AND MOVING SANDS OF PHETCHABURI

หน้ารายการ

Due to the abundant properties of the earth, water and air, this part of the region became known as the “land of flowing water and moving sands”. The Phetchaburi River has its source in the Tenasserim Hills. Alluvium is deposited by running water on the floodplains. This floodplain alluvium can be highly fertile, and in these parts have supported plantations and orchards on both banks. As sedimentary deposits build over time, the river releases into the sea, and nutrients carried by the river go on to nurture marine life. On this trip, we uncover a secret which lies in the big, fat fruit of the ‘paen’ lime with its thin skin, abundant juice, and distinctive aroma. Apart from the lime’s contribution of sour taste to different foods, the juice can be turned into other refreshing products.
