According to Thai PBS Verify, a Facebook account named OUDSUR shared an image accompanied by the claim that: 

Reports indicate heightened tensions along the Trat border, alleging that Cambodian forces joined with Chinese grey syndicates to employ sophisticated anti-drone spoofing technology, resulting in the jamming and downing of a Royal Thai Navy patrol drone.

But the Thai Armed Forces refuse to back down! Accelerating troop deployments, paving access roads, and outplaying the opposition with superior strategic planning, reinforced by a stern warning from high command: ‘Should an imminent threat arise, we are prepared to take preemptive action—no waiting to be fired upon!

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, Royal Thai Navy Spokesperson, confirmed that signal jamming incidents have occurred since late 2025 during operational skirmishes. The use of drones and electronic jamming constitutes tactical engagement via radio frequencies instead of firearms. Because wave propagation has no clear demarcation, assessing the precise reach across the border is technically difficult.
• Concerning ‘Chinese Grey Networks’ Assisting Cambodia: This claim is based on the personal perspective of military reporter Wassana Nanuam, who stated during a news program that photos show Chinese illicit syndicates helping the Cambodian side fly drones.
• On Claims that the Thai Military is ‘Ready to Strike First Without Waiting to Take Fire’: This statement is drawn from an interview with ACM Prapas Sornchaidee, Director of the Joint Information Center for the Thai-Cambodian Situation (JIC). Outlining national security measures, he stated that the Royal Thai Armed Forces stand ready to defend national sovereignty; if clear indicators or imminent threats to Thai civilians or military personnel arise, the military is prepared to take preemptive action to neutralize the threat immediately—analogous to someone drawing and cocking a gun, where one does not need to wait to be shot at before responding.

According to a Page Transparency review by Thai PBS Verify, the Facebook page ‘OUDSUR’ was set up in 2019 but is managed from Australia.

An analysis of the page reveals that its publications focus heavily on sensitive social topics and Thai-Cambodian disputes designed to incite hate or maximize clicks. Having remained dormant since its inception until its first recorded post on November 10, 2024, the page demonstrates an absence of reliability, focusing strictly on crafting videos for viral reach and shares.

Tracing the Origin: Where Did Claims of Cambodia Partnering with Criminal Syndicates Against Thai Drones Originate? 

Thai PBS Verify conducted a keyword search using ‘Cambodia Chinese grey networks’ and located a corresponding news report from PPTV.

Wassana Nanuam commented at the 0:47 mark: ‘As for the drone activity in the area, our side has obtained images showing clear evidence that it is not just Cambodian soldiers flying them, but rather Chinese illicit figures brought in to help operate the drones.’

Fact Check: Was There a Real Attack on Thai Drones?

Thai PBS Verify sought clarification from Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Navy. He stated that attacks on Thai drone assets genuinely transpired, with signal interference tactics being utilized as early as late 2025 during the skirmishes.  

“Drone operations represent a reciprocal tactical measure employed by both sides. This constitutes a form of engagement, but one that utilizes radio frequencies transmitted according to equipment power output rather than conventional firearms. Because electromagnetic frequencies lack the fixed, defined trajectory of live ammunition, it is impossible to determine definitively whether the signals penetrate across the border. Consequently, the opposing side can claim these actions are purely self-defense, whereas in practice, the signals may cross into our airspace without verifiable certainty.”

Are Thai forces actually prepared to retaliate?  

Regarding claims that the Thai military is prepared to strike first without waiting to take fire, a keyword search for ‘Royal Thai Armed Forces’ led to an article published by Matichon Online on August 10, 2026. The report cited the Director of the Joint Information Center, who emphasized that Thailand remains fully prepared regardless of whether Cambodia deploys Chinese weaponry, drawing an analogy: ‘If someone draws a gun, you don’t wait for them to shoot—you neutralize the threat immediately.’

Further details regarding Thailand’s countermeasures are outlined below: 

Air Chief Marshal Prapas remarked: ‘Regardless of whether they use it or not, we are ready. They came to tell us not to use our assets, but one can understand that individuals align their statements with their host nations to perform their roles effectively. However, do not fear; we are prepared either way. I consistently tell our border forces to rest assured that the military is prepared to defend our people. If there is any tendency or credible indicator pointing to harm against Thais or Thai troops, we will strike preemptively to halt the threat on the spot.’

In discussions with the Chief of Staff of the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defense Command, the question was raised whether forces must absorb incoming fire after a hostile party draws and chambers a firearm before engaging in counteraction. The commander affirmed that restraint is unnecessary under direct threat; forces are authorized to initiate preemptive defensive strikes decisively,’ ACM Prapas noted.

The Royal Thai Army Spokesperson reaffirmed Thailand’s proactive security posture, emphasizing close situational surveillance and readiness to mitigate threats as needed. 

Thai PBS Verify contacted Army Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvaree, who stated that the Thai Armed Forces are closely watching the situation and staying constantly prepared. Readiness covers troop strength, weaponry, transit routes, defensive structures, and field operations to respond to any threats swiftly. 

Operations prioritize the safety of civilians and military personnel, as well as the protection of national sovereignty and national interests. Should any situation arise that poses a threat to security, the military stands fully prepared to take necessary action.
