About Us
Thai PBS Verify operates as the fact-checking unit of Thailand’s public media broadcaster, Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS). Established in October 2024, it plays a role in providing factual information to the public when false information is widely disseminated and affects both individuals and society. The unit also promotes knowledge and skills in fact-checking among the people, while building collaborative networks, which consist of fact-checking organizations, experts in various fields and media partners, through joint verification efforts.
Thai PBS Verify Code of Principles
Thai PBS Verify Code of Principles is based on the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) Code of Principles, which states that: It “believe[s] nonpartisan and transparent fact-checking can be a powerful instrument of accountable journalism; conversely, unsourced or biased fact-checking can increase distrust in the media and experts while polluting public understanding.”
- We present fact-checking content with transparency, independence and impartiality. Verification cover trends, information distribution patterns and news related to fact-checking and misinformation.
- We use evidence-based verification methods to examine the accuracy of information or claims made in public.
- We clearly and transparently identify sources of information and avoid plagiarism.
- We respect the privacy and human rights of individuals related to the presented content.
- We ensure that no conflicts of interest are involved.
- We support freedom of expression, the right to report facts, and reject discrimination on race, gender, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, etcetera.
- We play an important role in developing Thailand’s fact-checking standards network and promoting independent fact-checking in Thailand.
